The Miami-Dade County Library District is a taxing authority separate from Miami-Dade County government. Its property tax of 0.2812 mills is paid on taxable property in unincorporated Miami-Dade County and in the cities of Aventura, Coral Gables, Doral, Florida City, Hialeah Gardens, Miami, Miami Beach, Miami Gardens, Miami Springs, North Bay Village, Opa-locka, South Miami, Sunny Isles Beach, Sweetwater and West Miami, the towns of Bay Harbor Islands, Cutler Bay, Golden Beach, Medley and Miami Lakes and the villages of Biscayne Park, El Portal, Indian Creek, Key Biscayne, Palmetto Bay, Pinecrest and Virginia Gardens.
Homestead assessed values rise by up to 3% a year, the most Save Our Homes allows, but never above each home's 2026 just (market) value. All other property stays at its 2026 taxable value. The tax rate stays at its final 2026 level. The gross levy is taxable value times the tax rate. The budget basis is 95% of the gross levy, which allows for early-payment discounts and unpaid taxes.

The size of the change depends mostly on how much of the taxable value comes from homesteads. Property without a homestead exemption, such as rentals, businesses, second homes and vacant land, keeps its taxable value under the amendment. Within the district, homesteads make up 28.8% of taxable value in 2026.
Taxing authorities like the Miami-Dade County Library District can also receive money from other sources, such as state and federal grants, fees, partnerships and contributions. The Miami-Dade County Library District's adopted budget shows its full set of revenue sources and how much each provides.
Miami-Dade County government, the cities and towns, the The Children's Trust, the water management district and the School Board levy their own property taxes and are not included on this page.

For each homestead, the estimated taxable value is its assessed value minus the new homestead exemption ($150,000 in 2027, $250,000 in 2028) and any other exemptions, but not less than zero. The gross levy is total taxable value times 0.2812 mills. The budget basis is 95% of the gross levy.
